Green Day perform final night of the American Idiot

Green Day performed after the final night of the American Idiot musical on Sunday 24th April.

Frontman Billie Joe Armstrong in February after leaving the race for the last three weeks had moved to 10 Broadway St. James Theatre in the band for songs set joined by colleagues.

As well as performing favourites including 'Welcome To Paradise' and 'Burnout', the band included two covers in their set.

The band performed 'Walking Out On Love' by The Nerves and the theme song from the TV, cartoon version of Spider-Man.

Armstrong told the crowd: "Ladies and gentlemen this isn’t a fucking party, this is a fucking celebration!" Gesturing to the stage set, he added: "I never thought I’d see my bedroom on a Broadway stage."

AFI frontman Davey Havok is set for a two-week spell in the lead role in Green Day's American Idiot musical.

Green Day singer Billie Joe Armstrong has been portraying the show’s lead character, St Jimmy, for the past two months in the Broadway adaptation of the band's 2004 album. His time in the show is set to end on February 27, with Havok captivating over on March 1.

American Idiot initially opened at the Berkeley Repertory Theatre in California in September 2009, before transferring to the St James Theatre on Broadway.

My Chemical Romance have been lambasted from all but their own quarter over the years. Decried as emo and unoriginal, seldom portrayed as anything but the ultimate teenage girl group, My Chemical Romance have never had it easy. When it is announced that My Chemical Romance is releasing a new album, Ultimate-Guitar often reacts with waves of indignation, even fury. In the event, we can expect a new album on the 22nd of November, 2010.

Fittingly, Danger Days: The True Lives Of The Fabulous Killjoys is being released on Reprise Records, the label founded by Frank Sinatra so that he could record music to his experimental liking. My Chemical Romance has broken their mould with this album, and it might not be the band’s enemies who reject this album but their long term fans.

It all started when My Chemical Romance refused the opportunity to record a song for the second instalment in the Twilight saga (I regret referring to the films as a saga). That act of defiance perhaps resulted in My Chemical Romance’s new album direction. Gone is the morbid artwork. Gone is the overwhelmingly whiny vocal delivery. Gone are the reasons you should hate the band. Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys is, on a personal level, an innovative album, which transcends boundaries that My Chemical Romance had set for themselves long ago. Instead, My Chemical Romance has delivered a strong album, redolent of Iggy And The Stooges, with a real rock ‘n’ roll attitude about it.

The three songs taken from the new album currently available on the band’s MySpace page are, Save Yourself, I’ll Hold Them Back, Sing, and Na Na Na. Each song has an overwhelmingly positive vibe to it, liberally doused in Iggy and the Stooges overtones. Save yourself, in particular is a wonderfully crafted track, and My Chemical Romance should be credited for doing what Green Day failed to do when they released an album’s worth of interesting material under the Foxboro Hot Tubs moniker. My Chemical Romance has gone for the jugular without feeling the need to rely upon their safety zone. By the sound of things, the song writing is there, and so is the inspiration.

Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys Preview—a concept album—is largely based upon Gerard Way’s Eisner Award-winning comic book, The Umbrella Academy. His passion for comic books looks to be translated into a musical language with the release of Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys, which is tentatively set for release on the 22nd of November, 2010.

Billie Joe is of the view that they have been providing quality since last few years despite the fact that they are engaged in performing live since last 20 years. They thought that they really worth the fans money now in real sense.

To ensure a good show he usually has a few alcoholic beverages with drummer Tré Cool and bassist Mike Dirnt before live performances, he says

"Around Insomniac we became a sh**ter live band. We began playing arenas; we didn’t really know how to play them that well and at the same time we started becoming a lot more introverted."

"Then we started drinking a lot more. Being drunk on stage, your inhibitions are gone. Most of the stuff we’ve come up with, like bringing someone up to sing with us or running around in drag, that's all from being liquored-up," he told Q magazine.

Recent performances by the Green Days band have been notorious for their on-stage antics and a human-sized drunk pink rabbit has even made an appearance. Billie Joe went on to describe what exactly constitutes a suitable pre-performance drink in order to achieve the required mayhem.

"There was a time when I was up to a six-pack of beer and maybe a couple of shots – that’s when you’re really cooking in the middle of the tour. You want enough to just get real loose," he confirmed.

Green Day for short, arrived this morning o Lima, around

4 a.m., in a private flight from Santiago, Chile.

The band is scheduled to offer a concert tomorrow night

at the San Marcos University Stadium. The two previous

gigs were in Santiago and Buenos Aires, and have set up a

high standard that will be quite challenging to surpass,

according to recent press reviews.

Numerous fans waited outside the high-end Swissôtel in

residential San Isidro district. Some of them, it is

reported, had a meeting with bassist player Dirnt this

morning. Many of them are camping outside the stadium in

order to have a good spot when the gates open tomorrow

afternoon.

Green Day arrived with a 60 member crew from Chile where

they offered a successful gig for 25 thousand people at

the Bicentenary Stadium in La Florida, Santiago, as part

of their South American tour. Chilean press quoted

Armstrong saying, “this is not a party, this is a

celebration,” before playing “Letterbomb,” as a homage to

Chile’s recent bicentennial celebrations.

In its second day, Lollapalooza, Chicago’s giant music fest, finally revved into high gear, by spoon with concerts, Phoenix, and Slightly Stoopid. But it was three aging punk rock acts that ended up stealing the spotlight AFI, Social Distortion and, of course, Green Day. These mind Lollapalooza's big three called early days, starting as a relatively small alt rock festival in the early ’90s, before ballooning into the massive multi day, multi stage event that has now completely taken over Chicago’s sprawling Grant Park. These were yesterday’s three defining acts, and oddly enough, their sets shared a number of similar traits shameless pandering to the crowd, some self indulgent nostalgia, overt political content, showy production values, and some transcendentally amazing moments.

North American Tour Green Day Next Week, Late Night Tonight was a top story. Here it is again: In Europe Green Day will comeback home from a run to hit the American road next week for a series of North American tour dates but first up they will appear on Jimmy Fallon tonight.
The band's U.S. tour this is the second leg in support of their Grammy Award winning album 21st Century Breakdown.

RELEASING Rockband: Green Day must have a tough decision.
Pairing the uber-successful Rockband title with the American punk band that appear to have as much longevity as David Beckham’s sex appeal was a no brainer.`
After EA’s success with the Beatles version of the series, GD are the next up to get the Rockband treatment.
Even if you’re not a massive fan of the pair there’s enough variation between the songs, taken from eight studio albums over 20 years, to keep you entertained.
If you prefer the more melodic, pattern style guitar playing then some of the earlier songs don’t lend themselves that well with many relying on repetitive single notes which have to be played faster and faster as you go up the skill levels.
But those from the later albums offer a much more varied challenge.
Like other games in the series you can play guitar, drums, bass or sing and in the main career mode the aim is to collect stars to unlock additional challenges.
There are three venues to choose from including one in Milton Keynes and the animations are a pretty good version of the real thing if a little limited in variation.
The only flaw is the discrepancy within each skill level. Just when you think you’ve mastered one in the expert mode, along comes another which proves impossible.
Other than that, turn the volume up and enjoy classic like Basketcase, When I Come Around and American Idiot.

When Green Day: Rock Band was first announced it was thought that with their current popularity, the game would go on to sell a boat load of copies just like The Beatles: Rock Band did. However it looks like things have gone the opposite way for Billie Joe Armstrong and Green Day reports Cowen Group analyst Doug Creutz. According to Cruetz, Green Day Rock Band has sold a minuscule 82,000 units across the three platforms that it was released on. These sales are in stark contrast to what we are sure was expected of the game. However this is not the only EA Distributed game that is having issues turning a profit this year as Cruetz also reports that Skate 3 sales are down 40% and Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11 down a whopping 68% percent compared to last years games.

Green Day fans, it’s time once again to pick up your Gibson. No, not the one you bought to pick up girls in high school, recently collecting dust in some remote area of your parents’ basement, that plastic one the one with the five colored buttons. Yes, “Green Day: Rock Band” has finally come to pass, after nearly 23 years of rocking amps and ears, the band is ready to rock your Xbox (PS3 and Wii as well). So how does it stack up?
Using three venues, “Green Day: Rock Band” spans the band’s catalogue of major albums. Starting with the intimate, albeit fictionalized, The Warehouse, players rock through nearly every song from the band’s hit “Dookie.” Next up is a pretty faithful reproduction of the U.K.’s Milton Keynes National Bowl, where players can jam out through Green Day’s transformation era, with hits as varied as “Boulevard of Broken Dreams,” “Minority” and “Nice Guys Finish Last.” For the last act, the game brings you to Oakland’s Fox Theater, which again switches to a one album set consisting of 12 songs from their 2009 album, “21st Century Breakdown.”
In all, 47 tracks are available in the game, with downloadable content already for sale at the Rock Band store (of course).
If any of this setup seems familiar, it’s likely because you’ve heard of the forefather of this game, “The Beatles: Rock Band.” Indeed, it seems Harmonix, the ongoing developers of the Rock Band series and original creators of “Guitar Hero,” plans on using this template again in the near future with a possible Jimi Hendrix collection rumored for later this year. Speculation about the future aside, The Beatles and Green Day versions of Rock Band offer exactly what you expect — which is both good and bad.
For huge Green Day fans, this game allows you to track their transformation from punk rock to pop rock. The presentation at later stages is gorgeous, with intricate camera work that follows the pace of the song you’re playing.
Features span the breadth of what the music rhythm genre has to offer, from unlockable movies and photos of the band to the custom setlists. Songs can also be exported to other Rock Band games on the PS3 or Xbox 360, which is a huge benefit for single band games such as this.
Why would you want to export, you might ask? Well, while the selection of songs certainly covers the span of Green Day’s growth, you’re not likely to play through this game more than once after you’ve unlocked everything. And why would you? When you invite some friends over to fire up your Gibson replicas, it might be hard to ask your band mates to sit through one band’s catalogue when you could very easily pick from the thousands of songs and hundreds of artists available on the compilation games through download.
That’s not meant to discount what Harmonix has done here: developed a perfectly acceptable single band rhythm game. It’s a dream come true for any experienced plastic thrashers who are die hard about Green Day’s entire catalogue, and for the rest of us, there’s that handy export function.

You have to hand it to the game developers at Harmonix -- they sure know how to keep a franchise moving.
The Rock Band latest iteration of is directly marketed to Green Day fans, and it tracks the journey of musicians Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dint and Tré Cool through the performances and songs that have made the band into a super pair.
As they did with Beatles: Rock Band, developers have identified the wants of Green Day fans and provided what is essentially a documentary on the band with a video game to please fans, of which there are many.
50 million albums the band has sold worldwide and played in some of the world's largest concert venues. There is even a smash hit Broadway musical based on the band's hits.
The game features 47 Green Day tracks -- if you don't like songs such as American Idiot and Welcome to Paradise, you're out of luck.
Behind the scenes photos, video and memorabilia provided by the band are waiting to be "unlocked" by players. The particular content shows band members pulling off different stunts over the years that will definitely amuse hardcore Green Day followers.
At its core, this is the Rock Band that millions already know. Game wise, there is little to differentiate it from previous franchise titles. Up to four players (despite the fact the band only has three members) can play the game, picking from their choice of guitar, bass, drums or vocals on the Rock Band microphone. Online play, allowing people to hook up with bandmates over the Internet, is possible.
If you already own Rock Band 2 and aren't actually into Green Day, then this may not be the game for you. If you are only interested in one or two Green Day tracks, then perhaps it's better to see if those can be downloaded on to versions of Rock Band that you already own.

Tony Awards the 2010 if you watched—and that’s a very big if, considering it was the night of the True Blood premiere and game 5 of the NBA finals—you likely saw a few strange things: Host Sean Hayes tonguing Kristin Chenoweth, Green Day playing a mini concert, and Oscar winners Denzel Washington and Catherine Zeta Jones making off with two of the four major acting awards. The night’s biggest winner was, uncharacteristically, a play: the Mark Rothko homage Red, which took home six awards including Best Play. Green Day: Rock Band holds fast to the basic framework that has cemented Electronic Arts’ franchise as a slick, easy to pick up, enjoyable music experience.
For those who have never played a Rock Band game, players simulate a jam experience by playing plastic drums, guitars and microphones, hitting the right notes on beat to rack up a high score.
Developed by Harmonix and published by MTV Games, the game guides players through Green Day’s successful career as punk-rockers, picking up with their mainstream debut album, Dookie, released in 1994. The band’s Dookie days are captured in the game with a concert staged in a grimy warehouse venue.
Virtual doppelgangers — complete with tattoos and dyed hair — of singer-guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong, bassist Mike Dirnt and drummer Tre Cool age as the career mode continues from the warehouse to the band’s concert at the 65,000-capacity National Bowl in Milton Keynes, England — which focuses on tracks from the American Idiot, Nimrod, Warning and Insomniac albums — to the final venue in the Fox Theater in Oakland, where the band plays songs from its newest album, 21st Century Breakdown.
The game includes 47 tracks from six of Green Day’s eight albums, including the entire Dookie and American Idiot recordings. Through the game, players unlock images and movies, including interview footage, outtakes and performances.
It’s a tour de force for diehard Green Day fans. However, music games such as Rock Band gain much of their momentum from a karaoke-like friendliness, with the most fun had playing in groups and at parties. Green Day’s appeal is just too narrow for a dedicated game.
When playing Green Day: Rock Band for a few hours with friends, it quickly becomes apparent that there are only a few Green Day songs everyone is comfortable with. The rest are relegated to solo play during the career mode.
Band-specific games are not easy to sell to a wide audience. They need more than just a concert experience and a few albums’ worth of songs — they need purpose. For example, The Beatles: Rock Band tapped into the boys from Liverpool’s rock-gods status to pull off a successful game in 2009. It truly felt like a tour through a rock ‘n’ roll museum, and the game served to introduce the band to a new audience.
That kind of reverence simply can’t be re-created in Green Day: Rock Band.
While the game itself is technically well-done, the band simply isn’t diverse enough instrumentally or vocally to generate much enthusiasm.

Green day a hit with Stourport pupils

STOURPORT pupils dressed in green to raise awareness of eco schools and sustainability.
As part of its green day, the Burlish Park Primary School youngsters also sang recycling songs, with school musicians playing instruments made from recycled materials.

They took part in various green activities throughout the day, including making recycled jewellery, dragons, newspaper plant pots and writing a new eco code for the school.
The day ended with a Fairtrade coffee morning and parents were invited to sample tea, coffee and cakes served and made by year four pupils.

Lynda Williams, eco school co-ordinator, said: “Our pupils had a great day learning about sustainablilty and how this links to eco schools.

“They came up with some fantastic ideas for hats and headbands, promoting various ways in which we can help the environment.

“They were very keen to get involved on the day. Our pupils now have a greater awareness of how they can help reduce the environmental impact of our school and encourage care through all aspects of our school life.”

Green Day, Rihanna, Shakira, Mary J. Blige and Keith Urban have been booked at the 37th annual American to perform Music Awards gig, ABC said Friday.
The announcement regarding the celebrity lineup was made by dick clark productions President Orly Adelson.
"Each year we try to have a variety of artists and sounds and I think these performers actually showcase the depth of what this show brings to its fans," American Music Awards producer Larry Klein said in a statement.

A RED FACED rock fan got more than she bargained for when she decided to scrawl graffiti on the wall of Birmingham’s showpiece venue.

As she waited outside the revamped LG Arena at Birmingham’s NEC for the doors to open, temptation got the better of her.
She grabbed a marker pen from her pocket and scribbled a few words on the wall, unaware that CCTV cameras were rolling.
The Arena has just undergone a £29 million facelift, making it the envy of Europe, and proud staff didn’t take kindly to the vandalism.
“It was at the Green Day concert on Tuesday,” revealed Phil Mead, managing director, arenas for The NEC Group, the man responsible for overseeing the operation of the LG Arena, The NIA and The Ticket Factory.
“A member of staff spotted the graffiti and was outraged.
“Everyone is very proud of what we have achieved here, and he simply wasn’t going to stand for this sort of thing.
“A member of the security team went out to where the fans were queuing and said: ‘Whoever did this graffiti, we have you on camera and we know who you are.
“‘Unless you step forward and apologise, your ticket will be cancelled and we will not allow you in to see Green Day.
“Within moments a girl put her hand up and admitted she was the culprit.
“The security guard presented her with a mop and bucket and invited her to clean up her own mess.
“This she did, and apologised too.”
The Green Day gigs on Tuesday and Wednesday last week were the first full 15,000 capacity sell outs since the refurbished venue opened.
It now boasts new dining areas, food outlets, bars and a range of VIP areas, including the plush Sanctum Restaurant where chefs cook top quality dishes in a theatre kitchen setting.
The number of toilets has been increased, and aisles around the main arena have been widened for ease of access.

Green Day tour announces European concerts, North American venues

American punk rock crew Green Day will take their latest tour overseas after completing a late summer run of the U.S. and Canada. The 26-city trek across Europe kicks off September 28 at Atlantico Pavilion in Lisbon, Portugal, and ends November 12 at Palaolimpico in Turin, Italy.

Green Day will perform a total of 29 shows on the jaunt, playing two-night engagements in England on October 23-24 at the O2 Arena in London, on October 27-28 at the LG Arena in Birmingham and on October 30-31 at MEN Arena in Manchester.

Other stops on the European circuit include an October 4 show at Bercy in Paris, France, an October 12 concert at Spectrum in Oslo, Norway, and a November 3 performance at Olympiahalle in Munich, Germany. The first ticket sales for the currently confirmed European dates begin April 30. The fall trek will be Green Day's first European tour in four years.

The punk rockers announced plans for a 38-city tour of the U.S. and Canada last week and just rolled out venue confirmations for the trek. The North American shows, which kick-off the entire world tour, pick up July 3 at Key Arena in Seattle, WA, and continue through August 25 at the Forum in Los Angeles, CA. Green Day is touring in support of the upcoming May 15 release, "21st Century Breakdown," the band's eighth studio album. The record is a follow-up to and continuation of 2004's Grammy Award-winning rock opera "American Idiot," which hit No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and went Platinum five times in the U.S. The 2004 album makes its stage debut as a musical later this year in Green Day's hometown of Berkeley, CA.

Green Day is an American rock trio formed in 1987. The band has consisted of Billie Joe Armstrong (vocals, guitar), Mike Dirnt (bass guitar, vocals), and Tré Cool (drums, percussion) for the majority of its existence.

Green Day was originally part of the punk rock scene at 924 Gilman Street in Berkeley, California. Its early releases for independent record label Lookout! Records earned them a grassroots fanbase, some of whom felt alienated when the band signed to a major label. Nevertheless, its major label debut Dookie (1994) became a breakout success and eventually sold over 10 million copies in the U.S. and 15 million worldwide. As a result, Green Day was widely credited, alongside fellow California punk bands The Offspring and Rancid, with reviving mainstream interest in and popularizing punk rock in the United States.Green Day's three follow-up albums, Insomniac, Nimrod and Warning did not achieve the massive success of Dookie, but they were still successful, reaching double platinum, double platinum, and gold status respectively. Green Day's 2004 rock opera American Idiot reignited the band's popularity with a younger generation, selling five million copies in the U.S The band's eighth studio album, 21st Century Breakdown, will be released on May 15, 2009.
