Green Day graffiti fan caught red-handed

A RED FACED rock fan got more than she bargained for when she decided to scrawl graffiti on the wall of Birmingham’s showpiece venue.
A MOP AND BUCKET.
As she waited outside the revamped LG Arena at Birmingham’s NEC for the doors to open, temptation got the better of her.
She grabbed a marker pen from her pocket and scribbled a few words on the wall, unaware that CCTV cameras were rolling.
The Arena has just undergone a £29 million facelift, making it the envy of Europe, and proud staff didn’t take kindly to the vandalism.
“It was at the Green Day concert on Tuesday,” revealed Phil Mead, managing director, arenas for The NEC Group, the man responsible for overseeing the operation of the LG Arena, The NIA and The Ticket Factory.
“A member of staff spotted the graffiti and was outraged.
“Everyone is very proud of what we have achieved here, and he simply wasn’t going to stand for this sort of thing.
“A member of the security team went out to where the fans were queuing and said: ‘Whoever did this graffiti, we have you on camera and we know who you are.
“‘Unless you step forward and apologise, your ticket will be cancelled and we will not allow you in to see Green Day.
“Within moments a girl put her hand up and admitted she was the culprit.
“The security guard presented her with a mop and bucket and invited her to clean up her own mess.
“This she did, and apologised too.”
The Green Day gigs on Tuesday and Wednesday last week were the first full 15,000 capacity sell outs since the refurbished venue opened.
It now boasts new dining areas, food outlets, bars and a range of VIP areas, including the plush Sanctum Restaurant where chefs cook top quality dishes in a theatre kitchen setting.
The number of toilets has been increased, and aisles around the main arena have been widened for ease of access.
Other big names booked in for the launch season include Backstreet Boys, Deep Purple, Jonas Brothers, James Morrison and Status Quo.

GREEN DAY'S ABOUT VMA NOMS

'Even though we have eight VMA awards on our mantle, there's always room for more,' Billie Joe Armstrong says. Nominations would be old hat for the guys in Green Day. After all, they've been doing this for a while now. They've won Grammys, BRITs, Junos and, if their upcoming stage version of "American Idiot" is successful, maSo, when nominations for the 2009 VMAs were announced on Tuesday, it wasn't exactly a surprise to see Green Day's name on the list (their "21 Guns" clip received three nods, for Best Rock Video, Best Direction and Best Cinematography). But to Billie Joe Armstrong and Co., the news is still a very big deal. ybe they'll be adding a Tony or two to the collection."We are so excited to be nominated this year for '21 Guns,' " Armstrong said in a statement to MTV News. "Even though we have eight VMA awards on our mantle, there's always room for more. This video we did with Marc Webb is really special. We're really proud of it." "21 Guns" faces some stiff competition in the Best Rock Video category: It's up against Coldplay's "Viva La Vida," the Kings of Leon's "Use Somebody," Paramore's "Decode" and Fall Out Boy's "I Don't Care." Green Day - Know Your American Lyrics

Huh!
Yeah, we're comin' back then with another bombtrack
Nigga know its all a that
Huh!
Hey yo, so check this out
Yeah!
Know your enemy!

Come on!

Born with insight and a raised fist
A witness to the slit wrist, that's with
move into '92
Still in a room without a view
Ya got to know
Ya got to know
That when I say go, go, go
Amp up and amplify
Defy
I'm a brother with a furious mind
Action must be taken
We don't need the key
We'll break in

Something must be done
About vengeance, a badge and a gun
so rip the mic, rip the stage, rip the system
I was born to rage against 'em

Fist in ya face, in the place
And I'll drop the style clearly

Know your enemy
Know your enemy!
Yeah!

Hey yo, and get with this...uggh!
Word is born
Fight the war, fuck the norm
Now I got no patience
So sick of complacence
With the D the E the F the I the A the N the C the E
Mind of a revolutionary
So clear the lane
The finger to the land of the chains
What?
The land of the free?
Whoever told you that is your enemy

Now something must be done
About vengeance, a badge and a gun
So rip the mike, rip the stage, rip the system
I was born to rage against 'em

Now action must be taken
We don't need the key
We'll break in

I've got no patience now
So sick of complacence now
I've got no patience now
So sick of complacence now
Sick of sick of sick of sick of you
Time has come to pay...
Know your enemy!

Come on!
Yes I know my enemies
They're the teachers who taught me to fight me
Compromise, conformity, assimilation, submission
Ignorance, hypocrisy, brutality, the elite
