Lollapalooza Day 2 brings Green Day

In its second day, Lollapalooza, Chicago’s giant music fest, finally revved into high gear, by spoon with concerts, Phoenix, and Slightly Stoopid. But it was three aging punk rock acts that ended up stealing the spotlight AFI, Social Distortion and, of course, Green Day. These mind Lollapalooza's big three called early days, starting as a relatively small alt rock festival in the early ’90s, before ballooning into the massive multi day, multi stage event that has now completely taken over Chicago’s sprawling Grant Park. These were yesterday’s three defining acts, and oddly enough, their sets shared a number of similar traits shameless pandering to the crowd, some self indulgent nostalgia, overt political content, showy production values, and some transcendentally amazing moments.

The Band Also Known as A Fire Inside kicked off the retro punk festivities with an hour long performance of their classic mid ’90s hits and a bunch of tracks off their most current album, Crash Love. Their perform more current songs watching them, like new single “Medicate,” it’s fascinating to see how far they’ve come from their garage band beginnings; they’ve now fully immersed themselves in the glam-y “horror punk” aesthetic. Wiry frontman Davey Havok, dressed in black slacks and an untucked white Polo shirt, didn’t play an instrument, instead prancing around, pirouetting, and twirling the mic stand like a baton. The guy can rock. Just watching AFI perform there's a kinetic pleasure.

Rock Band Green Day: Boulevard of Broken Sales

When Green Day: Rock Band was first announced it was thought that with their current popularity, the game would go on to sell a boat load of copies just like The Beatles: Rock Band did. However it looks like things have gone the opposite way for Billie Joe Armstrong and Green Day reports Cowen Group analyst Doug Creutz. According to Cruetz, Green Day Rock Band has sold a minuscule 82,000 units across the three platforms that it was released on. These sales are in stark contrast to what we are sure was expected of the game. However this is not the only EA Distributed game that is having issues turning a profit this year as Cruetz also reports that Skate 3 sales are down 40% and Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11 down a whopping 68% percent compared to last years games.

“Green Day” The Lancaster London hotel hosts

“Green Day” the Lancaster London is hosting its fifth annual on Tuesday 14 September to coincide with Organic Fortnight (3 – 17 September 2010).
The event aims to increase sentience of the hotel's green policies amongst guests, staff and suppliers. Staff are encouraged to learn more about the hotel's environmental policies and to gather information about how they can make improvements.
The hotel will be lit with green LED lighting, with green silk cascading from the top of the building; Island Restaurant & Bar will be introducing a menu of entirely sustainable and organic food, with the air miles listed for each dish and tasting stands will be set up in the lobby to allow guests to sample some organic and sustainable produce. In addition, a honey menu will be featured in Island with dishes made using the honey produced by the hotel's own bee hives and electric cars and scooters will be showcased in the forecourt.
The hotel offers two restaurants, the award winning Nipa and super chic Island Restaurant and 16 conference rooms which have the ability to cater for a variety of events, from small business meetings to large receptions for up to 3,000 people.
